Why Dentistry?

Here's why I chose dentistry over medicine

Everyone who knew I was going to dental school would ask me, why did you choose dentistry over medicine? Isn't medicine better? What's so good about dentistry? Well, before I decided to pursue dentistry as my career path, I've always been interested in the medical field. It started when I learned science in elementary school. Since then, my interest grew as I started learning biology in junior high and finally, during high school, I knew I wanted to be in the medical field.

My family supported me all the way. I did a lot of research on what the medical field is like, where and how to apply to med school, until I came across dentistry. I thought it was strange but interesting how dentistry mainly focuses on oral cavity , specifically your teeth. From there I started digging up some more info about dentistry, what's it like in dental school, and how to apply to dental school. I watched countless videos on YouTube about what dentistry is like, and I love it. It looks so much fun and now, as a dental student, I can honestly say that pursuing dentistry as my career path was the best choice I have ever made.

The more I learn about the dentistry, the more I feel grateful to be in this field.

To sum it up, here's 3 reason's why I chose dentistry:

  1. It's the perfect combination of art and science. If you're into these two things, dentistry might just be for you!

  2. You get to see instant results from your patients. Just imagine how great it feels to have your patients regain their confidence to smile after you treated them. If they're happy, wouldn’t you be as well?

  3. You'll spending most of your time in the lab. Which is super fun! You get to do some fillings, prep crowns, bridges, make dentures, etc.

If you're still considering between dentistry and medicine, think about what you'd like to achieve, what's your passion and how you're going to contribute to society.

Also, I'd like to say thank you to my family, friends and everyone who supported me for all these years. Thank you!
